Someone recently asked about the status of the forum module for Backdrop CMS in our Backdrop chat room and a vibrant discussion broke out about the various options for building forums with Backdrop CMS. 

While we have a forum module available in contrib, the Backdrop community choose to build our own forum with simple custom content types, config, and a little custom code. 

In this session we can talk about various options for building forum features in a Backdrop site and what is missing from the Backdrop core and contrib spaces to make this easier.
