Are you a business making some or all your income from Backdrop related services?
Are you an organisation wanting to know how you can contribute to funding the development of Backdrop modules?
Then this discussion may be for you?
Introduction
Many within the Backdrop Community are businesses making their money from developing Backdrop websites.
At the last Backdrop Live we started a discussion about what we should do to support businesses that make money from Backdrop. That discussion has continued over the intervening months and we have now decided to start exploring the area of how we fund development of Backdrop (core/contrib/tools) to benefit businesses.
One key need identified is how do people get development done if it is needed for a website?
The current thinking is that we will:
- identify a module port that needs doing
- facilitate a bounty programme using an existing tool
- raise awareness amongst businesses, academia and non-profits who may be interested in funding this
- facilitate discussions with developers and funders to decide what the definition of done is and if the work meets that definition
Join us to discuss the ideas we have for modules to put through this process and bring your own ideas.
- All skill levels
- Website Architects (no code)
- Developers (yes code)
- Front-End Developers (themes + layouts)
- Back-End Developers (modules + more)
